First, let me tell you about what each term is all about.
Squidoo: This is a social media website wherein you can write a topic on anything that you are interested in. It may be a blog, a video clipping, music or for that matter a topic that is close to your heart. This is possible through building your lens. What is Lens? Lens is nothing but, a web page allotted to you by squidoo that can link to your blogs, photos, music links, video clippings and a lot many other things. More Freeware SEO Tools for the DIY Webmaster - Part 2
By Mel Strocen (c) 2007
In Part 1 of this article , some of the better, freeware keyword, sitemap and ranking tools available to webmasters were listed. Part 2 covers meta tag generators, link popularity apps, link checkers and general SEO tools. Again, all of these tools can be found in the SiteProNews Webmaster Tools Directory along with new additions as we find them.
Let's start with a look at meta tag generators. Since meta tags lost their SEO relevance several years ago, most of the freeware programs in this category are either no longer supported or haven't been updated for several years. But, then again, not much has really changed in meta tag usage so the apps listed below should still be useful. Read More>> |

Hot HTML Tips that Never Fail to Deliver
By Jim Wilson (c) 2007
Originally published in SiteProNews, April 24, 2007
When it comes to HTML, you can always count on accuracy and detail delivering your website's content in proper order to the search engines. If you are new to website building, or are struggling to understand why your website is not performing this article may be of tremendous value to you.
First, let's look at meta tags, these are the main points of interest to the search engines, they do not look at a webpage as humans do, so meta tags are the brail, if you will, to what they see. Meta tags should always be between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags, like so.

Pronet's Patel Beats Own Calacanis Challenge
On February 8 of this year, Neil Patel issued a challenge to Jason Calacanis stating that he could increase traffic to Calacanis.com by a minimum of 20% in one month. Patel's challenge stemmed from a comment Calacanis made in his blog a day earlier. The SEO folks got really pissed off at me for saying "SEO is bulls@#t." last year, but the truth is that 90% of the SEO market is made up of snake oil salesman. These are guys in really bad suits trying to get really naive people to sign long-term contracts. These clients typically make horrible products and don't deserve traffic--that's why they're not getting it organically so they hire the slimebuckets to game the system for them.
That wasn't the first time Calacanis trash-talked SEO. In his SES Chicago (Dec06) keynote conversation with Danny Sullivan, Calacanis called SEO bullshit citing his time at Weblogs and Netscape as inspiration for his outrage.
So when Patel issued his challenge, Calacanis took him up on it. Patel and the Pronet Advertising team drew up a list of several SEO recommendations and handed it over to Calacanis.com. Though only 10% of those recommendations have been implemented to date, traffic on the site has increased 21.14% after one month.
Patel posted graphic details from the successful campaign at his blog today under the headline: Calacanis SEO's Next Evangelist?
Congratulations Neil. Source: http://blog.sitepronews.com |

Who are the Major Search Engines? No surprise, Google currently holds the #1 spot. It wasn't that long ago when Yahoo was king and Google was yet to be born. We remember when there were a dozen search engines considered to be major players. Today, Google, Yahoo and MSN dominate roughly 90% of all the search engine traffic generated here in the US . Keep in mind that AOL pulls most of their results from Google. Thus, when it comes to search engine optimization and search engine marketing services, our main focus is generating top positions within the big three - Google, Yahoo & MSN. Google also supplies results to Earthlink, AT&T and dozens of other partners. Yahoo has since purchased Overture, AltaVista, FAST and Inktomi, making them Google's #1 competitor. Other notable search engines include Ask, AOL Search, Excite, Teoma, AltaVista, Lycos, AllTheWeb, HotBot and LookSmart. |
